Abstract

Visual works are suitable platforms for the emergence of the most profound human thoughts, including mythological thoughts, and in every period and geography, its emergence can be traced in these works. Studying and reading these works, in a methodical way, can reveal the truths that are hidden behind the visual elements. Mounir Farmanfarmaian has presented a new expression and content by emphasizing the function of mirrors. The current research has analyzed five works of this artist that were created in a period of ten years, using the descriptive analytical method and the use of the myth analysis method. The findings show that the mirror as a work material and the use of sacred geometry with its architectural origin in the field of pop or conceptual art in the symbology stage, indicates unity while plurality, wisdom, and shapes such as labyrinth, square, hexagon and the like are a symbol of femininity. In the psychometric stage, the impressionability of the vague images in Shahcheragh mirrors as well as handwoven and other Iranian handicrafts and their integration with contemporary art is shown, and in the mythometric stage, the myth of Simorgh is the dominant myth in his works in such a way that the geometric reflection of the image In each work, a person has created a new knowledge of the concept of unity and plurality in the minds and presents the epistemological intuition of the "real me" to the audience.
