Abstract

Artistic reproduction based on contemporary sociocultural conditions is prominent among the elements of Iranian carpets in the present era. Consequently, comprehending and studying contemporary carpets necessitates understanding the theoretical foundations and sociocultural components of the current time. This study uses the qualitative method to delve into the sociological aspects of contemporary Iranian carpets. This research aims to explore the components of contemporary Iranian carpets derived from sociocultural conditions. The research question addressed is: What are the sociocultural dimensions of contemporary Iranian carpets? This study employs both qualitative and descriptive-analytical approaches. The research is timely, reflecting the contemporary period. The research findings highlight the emergence of transformation as the primary approach in contemporary carpets. Consequently, the sociocultural components have been molded under the influence of the modern and postmodern eras, transforming traditional Iranian arts, including carpets. The impact and interplay among the production factors, including designers and consumers, are evident in contemporary carpets' aesthetic and cognitive transformation. Hence, the significance lies in recognizing the role of production factors such as designers and the importance given to the diverse preferences of consumers, elements that are characteristic of the postmodern era. Remarkably, the attention to both general and specific consumers as an audience-centered approach holds significance in contemporary carpets. Consequently, the sociocultural transformation of contemporary Iranian carpets, brought about by changes in the roles of production factors such as designers, consumers, artistic producers, and distributors, has had a substantial influence on the aesthetic and cognitive dimensions of patterns and motifs, thereby contributing to the reproduction of contemporary carpets.
