Semantic implications of religious tourism ‎(Case study: visitors of religious places in Dehlran county)‎

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discover and identify the semantic implications of religious tourism ‎based on the experience of visitors of religious places in Dehloran county in Ilam province. The ‎research paradigm is qualitative and its method is interpretive phenomenology. The target society ‎of the research includes all the visitors of religious places in Dehloran county in 1401. for select the ‎participants in the research by using the purposive sampling method and according to the ‎sufficiency criterion, 24 people have been chosen. The data collection tool was an in-depth ‎interview and the method of data analysis was the method of Smith et al. (2009). During data ‎coding and searching for patterns in data, the themes of spiritual experience, calmness and ‎pacification, re-exploration the meaning of life, Improving relationships, upgrading of social ‎capital, opening cultural horizons and strengthening religious beliefs were obtained. The results ‎indicate the existence of spiritual experience as an important semantic implication among the ‎studied tourists. Pilgrimage tripe is the product of a complex interaction between structural ‎conditions, habitus and the action of choosing the destination, place and action of the tourist, which ‎show themselves in the choice of Holy places in certain places. In addition to the pilgrimage ‎, the participants in the research did not neglect leisure, nature-based tourism and ‎entertainment. these tourists can be categorized as pilgrims-tourists, who in this trip ‎combine the spiritual element of tourism with its material aspect and consider a wide range of travel ‎necessities for themselves.‎
