Stability and attenuation of Ashighi music in the era of cultural industries

Abstract

For centuries, as one of the folk musics, Ashighi music has had a special place in the culture of the Turkish-speaking people of Iran. The aim of the current research is to study Stability and attenuation of Ashighi music in the era of cultural industries to clarify the current situation, challenges and opportunities for advancement and dynamic solutions. For this purpose, by using qualitative method and semi-structured interview technique, interviews with 10 experts who were selected by the purposeful sampling method; After counting the basic, organizer and inclusive themes, the image of the network of themes was drawn. The results show that "contextual conditions", "cultural factors", " policy making ", " deterrent factors" are the most important factors that affect the Stability and attenuation of Ashighi music. Contextual conditions refer to the Special features of Ashighi music, its current status, structural challenges and accessibility to Ashighs and their performance. Changes in people's lifestyles and musical tastes, the diminution of the Turkish language, the creation of a negative social attitude towards Ashighi music and religious doubts surrounding it were identified as cultural factors affecting Ashighi music. Government support policies, legislation, institutional and educational-research planning in the policy making sector and economic problems and environmental changes are effective as inhibiting factors in the sustainability of Ashighi music. Also, the analysis of the findings shows that the dynamic solutions of Ashighi music depend on taking measures in the three areas of production, distribution and adoption of support policies.
