Abstract
The present study uses an interpretive approach to investigate the issue of secrecy culture among families in Tehran. The research approach is qualitative and was conducted using thematic content analysis research method. Based on the purposive qualitative sampling method (consecutive theoretical sampling), 12 experts in the field of family and culture participated in this study, and their understanding and interpretation of the secrecy culture was analyzed using a semi-structured interview tool. The findings obtained using the "content analysis" method included seven main themes as follows: lack of marital skills, female rejection, cultural-social contexts, psycho-behavioral contexts, respect for privacy, fluid lifestyle, and extreme individualism. In addition to psycho-behavioral contexts, the second background condition for the emergence of the secrecy trait is related to the cultural-social contexts that exist in Iranian culture and society. Lack of conversational culture, lack of living together skills, lack of tolerance and tolerance, marriages without study and research, lack of education in this field, the role of the family, undesirable Iranian culture, difficult divorce in Iran, disregard for women's rights, undesirable life, lack of responsibility in life, lack of prudence in life, and disrespect for each other are all among the socio-cultural contexts in which this trait manifests.
