The aim of the present study is a sociological study of the construction of Iranian socio-cultural problems in short films of the social drama genre. To achieve this goal, the subject of the genre was viewed with a socio-cultural approach, and in this regard, the genre analysis method was used. This process was carried out in two ways, including analysis to achieve genre themes and elemental analysis with the Berger model (1992) to identify the role elements of the genre. The studied population includes included films published in the Hashour website archive. Sampling was purposeful and the samples continued until theoretical saturation was ensured. The data collection tool included a form and a checklist. In order to achieve reliability, the strategies of audit trial, review at the time of coding, and verification of research colleagues were used.. Thematic analysis method was used to analyze and analyze the data. The results indicate that the social drama genre in Iranian short cinema has high potential for localization, and its special features in relation to family, characters, and plot are the theme of anomie (abnormality) and attention. It addresses the cultural, social and economic issues of the specific Iranian society in this context, presenting it as a native genre.
